There is a comfort of meeting an old friend; no need to dress up since we were classmates and he has seen me in exams with messy hair and dirty face because of overnight study. Old (male) friends are also the persons who told me "cut it out, Karen! Men don't like red lipstick/lace shirt/bubble dress!" or "Karen, you are walking like a man!" In other words, these are the people who demonstrate how cruel the world can be.
Chris is not one of them! He is a polite and generous boy who is happy to say things I want to hear :) Bravo boyo!
